SIMA’s 24th Annual Snow & Ice Symposium
is going to look like no other.
SIMA is determined to deliver the Best Show in Snow live and in-person in 2021, with the understanding that capacity limits and social distancing requirements may still be in place as a result of the ongoing pandemic. As a result, the look and feel of the Snow & Ice Symposium is going to be a little different.
Instead of one big event, SIMA is planning a Symposium Roadshow — four shorter, smaller, strategically located events that will bring all of the things people love about the Symposium into a smaller footprint, possibly even closer to home.
SIMA’s commitment to our attendees and exhibitors is to provide a safe environment for learning, networking and exploring the trade show. But we’ll need your buy-in to make it happen. Roadshows will be broken into “pods,” with each having a home base where all activities (except for the trade show) will take place. Pod hopping will be prohibited. Choose the pod that best suits you and spend time learning and sharing with others in similar roles or with similar goals.
Here’s how the 2021 Symposium Roadshow will work:
Once you choose your location, pre-select a learning pod. The education team has designed a curriculum agenda specific to each pod’s targeted demographic or objective. Each location will also feature either a keynote address, facility tour or other special event.
Each pod will feature a snack and chat. If table capacities are still limited, the event might look a little different. We’re working to ensure that the takeaways are still valuable. Additional networking will be added if state restrictions are lifted.
Each pod will have a designated time block built into their schedule to meet with vendors and check out all of the cool equipment and services. Attendees will also be able to schedule additional 1:1 time with vendors through the Show app.

Download the SIMA Show App to stay in the loop
All registered Roadshow attendees will be asked to download and use the SIMA Show app to receive updates and timely information during the event. Here is why it’s important (even if you’re not super tech savvy):
UPDATES: SIMA will use push notifications as the primary means of communication during each Roadshow. If there is an issue, room change, etc., you’ll get instant notice.
PLAN: Your pod schedule will be set, but use the Agenda widget to verify time/location, access session documents, take notes and rate the speaker. We’ll use the app for Q&A! Instead of waiting to ask your question, you can add them at any time.
CONNECT: Stop sharing business cards and use the app to connect with fellow attendees and exhibitors. Use the Shake feature to instantly share contact information with another person.
NEW IN 2021: Not enough time to meet a vendor? Use the 1-on-1 video chat feature within the app to start your conversation!

Equipment manufacturers, deicing companies, software providers, industry consultants, and more - whatever you’re looking for to drive efficiency, you can explore it at the Best Show(s) in Snow & Ice.
In 2021, vendors will be onsite in all three roadshow locations - Minneapolis, Cleveland, and Philadelphia! Chat with them onsite or via the event app to learn more about how their products/services can help you.
We're following guidelines
Safety and health
Symposium Roadshow events will follow all CDC, state, local and event requirements in place at the time of the event. This may include the requirement of face coverings and daily health screenings; limited table capacities, one-way aisles and floor decals to encourage social distancing; and increased hand sanitizing stations throughout the venues. Visit www.sima.org/show for more information on the steps each venue is taking to host a healthy and safe event.
During the registration process, all attendees must agree to abide by the SIMA Code of Conduct.
